EDGEWATER, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Tennis team fought valiantly in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom title match on Saturday evening in a 4-0 defeat to 35th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology at the Edgewater Tennis Center.
The Ducks (14-7) defeated the Dutchmen in the Championship match for the second consecutive season by winning two of the three doubles matches and three of the six singles matches. After taking the doubles point, Stevens won their fifth consecutive conference title with wins at number one, number five, and number six singles. All of the other matches went unfinished.
Inside the Box
- Jake Erb and Zach Schrader dropped a 6-1 decision at number one doubles while Antonio Scaramuzzino and Vincent Thompson also dropped a 6-1 decision at number three doubles. Ethan Luu and Michael Schuetz played at number two doubles and had their match stopped once the Ducks clinched the doubles point.
- Schrader was dealt a 6-1, 6-0 defeat at number one singles.
- Luu was defeated 6-1, 6-0 at number five singles. Jared Hostetter dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision at number six.
- Erb Schuetz, and Colin Brusse had their matches go unfinished after each dropped the first set.
The Dutchmen finished over .500 with a 12-11 record and went 5-1 conference play. LVC finished the year strong winning nine of the final 11 matches with the only two defeats coming to Stevens.
