Women’s Tennis Starts Conference Play with Another Dominant Win

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team started MAC Freedom play with a dominant 6-1 victory over Arcadia University on a chilly afternoon at the Shankroff tennis Center in Annville.
 
The Dutchmen (6-7, 1-0 MAC Freedom) started the match by winning all three doubles matches for the second consecutive match. LVC then won five of the six singles matches. The Dutchmen dropped just 11 total games in the five singles victories.
 
Inside the Box
  • Katie Berra and Megan Martin cruised to a number three doubles victory by a score of 6-0 in 18 minutes to start things off. The duo have won both matches this year when teaming together.
  • Catherine Stone and Erika Badner were the next court to finish at number two with a 6-2 victory to claim the doubles point. Stone and Badner have won their last four matches at doubles.
  • Sarah McComas and Sarah Kramer earned a 6-2 victory at number one to finish off the sweep.
  • Stone was the first singles court to finish at number two with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. The sophomore is on a five-match winning streak in singles.
  • Badner was the next court to finish with a 6-4, 6-2 win at number three singles. The first-year improved to 8-6 on the season and has won her last two matches.
  • Martin cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number four to clinch the match victory. She is on a three-match winning streak and is 5-4 on the season.
  • Emily Bryant won at number five singles 6-0, 6-0 for her second consecutive victory. She is now 4-4 on the year.
  • Jenna Miner ended the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number six to improve to 4-4 on the year.
Up Next
LVC will host defending conference champion Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Annville. The Dutchmen are scheduled to play the Ducks at the Shankroff Tennis Center but the matches might be moved inside the Arnold Sports Center if there is bad weather.
