Women’s Tennis Sweeps DeSales in Big Road Match

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team took a big step towards clinching another postseason berth with a 7-0 victory over host DeSales University on Wednesday afternoon in Center Valley.
 
The Dutchmen (9-8, 3-1 MAC Freedom) swept all nine matches for the second time this year as they moved a win away from clinching a playoff spot. LVC didn't drop a set in all six singles matches and won all three doubles matches for the fifth time this season.
 
Inside the Box
  • Katie Berra and Sarah McComas were the first doubles court to finish with a 6-0 win at number two. This was the first time the two have played doubles together.
  • Abbey DeLisio and Jenna Miner clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at number three to even their doubles record at 1-1.
  • Erika Badner and Catherine Stone finished the sweep of doubles play with a 6-3 victory at number one. The pair improved to 6-4 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
  • Berra was the first singles court to finish as she earned her first career "double bagel" with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number 4-0. The first-year improved to 8-3 on the season while extending her winning streak to seven in her first conference match.
  • Badner finished next at number three with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. She improved to 3-1 in conference play and 10-8 overall with her singles win.
  • Laken Kelly clinched the match victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number six. Kelly is 7-2 in singles this season and won both of her conference matches.
  • Miner won her fourth consecutive singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number five. She is now 7-4 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
  • Stone won her 10th match of the year with a 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) win at number two singles. The sophomore improved to 3-1 in conference and has won her last three.
  • McComas finished off the sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win at number one. She evened her conference record at 2-2 with her fifth victory of the season.

The Dutchmen can clinch a postseason berth tomorrow afternoon as they head north to take on King's College at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. First serves are at 3 p.m. against the Monarchs.
