ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Tennis team won the last four singles matches for a comeback 4-3 victory over visiting Baruch College on Sunday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
Baruch (10-3) won the doubles point with wins at number one and number two. LVC (7-8) won at number three doubles. The Bearcats took a 3-0 lead in the match with wins at number one and number three singles. The Dutchmen rally started with quick wins at number four and number five.
Catherine Stone rallied from a first set defeat to win in three sets at number two to tie the match at three.
Jenna Miner then clinched the match victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six singles.
Inside the Box
- Sarah McComas and Nikki Denbowski were the first doubles court to finish with a 6-0 win at number three. They are now 2-1 as doubles partners this year.
- Katie Berra started the comeback in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number five in just 40 minutes. The first-year improved to 7-3 on the season and is 4-0 at number five while winning her last six matches.
- Megan Martin won in 46 minutes at number four singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1. The sophomore improved to 6-5 on the season.
- Stone evened her season record at 8-8 with her third three-set victory of the season. The sophomore won 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) in a thrilling match that tied the score up at three.
- Miner gave the Dutchmen a big win at number six with her fifth victory of the season. She is 2-1 when playing number six and has won her last two matches.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will be back in action on Tuesday with the first of two road conference matches this week. LVC will head up I-81 to face King's College at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. First serves are scheduled for 3 p.m. against the Monarchs.
