Dutchmen Men’s Lacrosse Breaks Program Record with 25-4 Win at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team scored a program record 25 goals in a big bounce-back 25-4 victory at Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon in Doylestown.
 
The Dutchmen (7-6, 2-1 MAC Freedom) earned a big conference victory while improving to 6-0 on the road this season with just one more regular season road trip on the schedule. Jake Bollinger scored twice in the first 1:15 to give LVC an early 2-0 advantage. Mitchell Gearhart won the first two faceoffs and Bollinger scored in the first minute before Trey Ralston found the attacker open just 18 seconds later. Ralston scored his first of a game-high seven goals off an assist by Hayden Carling to increase the lead to three with 9:22 on the clock. The senior added a pair of goals to complete his hat trick and push the advantage to 5-0 off assists by Ethan Keenan and Nick Gleason. The Dutchmen added a pair of back-to-back goals to take a 7-0 first quarter lead. Jacob Mrose found Jacob Olson for the second time in two games with 2:32 left before Easley Pierson assisted Connor Sample 16 seconds later.
 
LVC quickly increased the lead up to 11-0 in the first four minutes on the second quarter with four different goal scorers. Kennan scored in the first minute off a pass from Bollinger. Nick West scored a minute later before Ralston scored off an assist by Kennen with 12:37 left. Mrose pushed the advantage to 11 with a goal 40 seconds later off another assist from Bollinger. Delaware Valley got on the board to prevent the shutout with 8:06 remaining in the half. Montgomery Sensenig scored after causing a turnover and picking up the ground ball to give the Dutchmen back an 11-goal advantage. Ralston increased the lead even more with another goal, this time with Sam Spagnuolo on the assist. Rowan Myers ended the scoring during the first half on a goal with 23 seconds left off an assist from Olson to make it 14-1.
 
The Dutchmen kept the scoring going early in the second half as Bollinger scored on the first possession of the quarter off a pass by Sean Poole. Ralston added a goal 27 seconds later off another assist from Poole. John Lux increased the advantage to 17-1 with his first goal of the game off an assist by Carling. Nick West pushed the lead to 17 with a goal off a rebounded shot by Myers. The Dutchmen added three goals in a span of a little over three minutes to increase the lead to 21-1 after three. Myers scored the first goal off an assist by Spagnuolo before Ralston scored with the assist going to Jayden Peck. Bollinger rounded out the run with an unassisted goal.
 
DVU began the fourth with a goal to cut the deficit to 21-2. LVC answered right back as Mrose found Ryan Hendrixson open for a goal. Mrose then scored unassisted before recording another assist on a goal by West to tie the goal scoring record. The Aggies scored with 6:45 on the clock and the Dutchmen countered right back as Myers scored the program record 25th goal of the game about a minute later. Delaware Valley was able to add another goal in the final four minutes to set the final score.
 
Inside the Box
  • The 25 goals are the most in a game for the Dutchmen breaking the previous record of 24 LVC scored against Rosemont in 2013 and La Roche in 2015. The 18 assists were one off the program record while the 43 points equals the program record.
  • Ralston led the way with seven goals and one assist for eight points. The senior took 12 shots putting 11 on goal. Ralston moved into third place in program history with his 68th career assist.
  • Bollinger finished with six points on four goals and two assists. He has now scored at least four goals in five games this season.
  • Mrose had a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. The senior also had two ground balls.
  • Myers and West scored three goals apiece. Myers added two caused turnovers and two ground balls while West picked up two ground balls.
  • Keenan had three points on one goal and two assists while Olson added one goal and one assist.
  • Poole, Carling, and Spagnuolo recorded two assists each while Pierson, Gleason, and Peck all had one assist.
  • Lux, Hendrixson, Sensenig, and Sample scored a goal each.
  • Gearhart won 13 of 16 faceoffs and picked up a team-high 10 ground balls.
  • Liam Hogan had three ground balls while Myers and Sensenig led the team with two caused turnovers each.
  • The Dutchmen had a 62-15 shot advantage, won 24 of 33 faceoffs, and picked up 44 ground balls.
  • LVC was 22-for-24 on clear attempts and held DVU to 15-for-21.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will host Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. on Arnold Field in an important conference battle. LVC and the Cougars are currently battling for the fourth spot in the conference standings heading into the final two weeks of the season.
