Beard Reaches Milestone in Big Victory

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Emily Beard recorded her 200th career point to propel the Lebanon Valley Women's Lacrosse team to a big 24-3 victory over Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field in Annville.
 
The Dutchmen (5-3) won the opening draw, and Alyssa Wene scored the first goal of the game off a pass by Katie DeWitt a little over a minute in. Chloe Moser won the following draw and Molly Whisler found Emily Beard over the middle for the second goal of the game and Beard's milestone point. LVC scored added two more goals as Wene and Beard scored a goal each to push the lead to 4-0 with 10:40 on the clock. The Mighty Macs (1-8) got on the board with just over nine minutes to play in the opening quarter with a goal. DeWitt answered with her seventh goal of the season off a pass by Beard. Immaculata would score again with just under five to play to cut the lead to 5-2.
 
LVC called a timeout after the goal and came out firing after with six goals in the final five minutes of the quarter. Kyla Hebert started the run with her seventh goal of the season. Beard completed her hat trick before Bethany Cohee scored her eighth goal of the season with a little over two minutes left. Wene had a pair of assists to Whisler and Cohee before ending the quarter with a free position goal to make it 11-2.
 
Wene started the scoring in the second quarter with her third goal of the game to put LVC up by 10 a little over a minute into the period. Beard added a pair of goals to increase the lead to 14-2 midway through the period. Wene and Beard pushed the lead to 16-2 with goals off assists by Cohee and Whisler. Whisler then assisted Jenna Davis on her first career goal to give the Dutchmen a 17-2 lead at the half.
 
Elizabeth Morgan scored the first goal of the second half off another assist by Cohee. Hannah Schneider scored her third goal of the season off an assist by Wene with a little under nine minutes to play. LVC took advantage of the first cards of the game as DeWitt scored her second goal of the game with LVC playing a woman-up off a feed from Beard with a little under two minutes left. The Mighty Macs scored in the final minute to make it 20-3 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Three of LVC's four goals in the fourth quarter came in the first half of the period including the first goals of the season for Grace Marchese and Chloe Moser. Whisler began the scoring off an assist by Morgan before Cohee assisted Marchese. Whisler then assisted Moser to make it 23-3 with 7:30 left in the game. Marchese added a second goal in the final minute off an assist from Whisler to set the final score.
 
Inside the Box
  • LVC tied the program record for points in a game with 42 off 24 goals and 18 assists. The 24 goals were one off the program record of 25 scored last Saturday against Gwynedd Mercy while the 18 assists were one off the program record of 19 dished out against Eastern in 2022.
  • Beard was one of three Dutchmen with eight points. She scored a game-high six goals and dished out two assists to go over the 200-point mark. Beard also caused two turnovers in the game.
  • Wene had eight points on five goals and three assists while winning eight draw controls. The senior recorded her sixth hat trick of the year and scored on all five shots she took.
  • Whisler had a career-high eight points on two goals and a career-high six assists.
  • Cohee had five assists and scored two goals for seven points. She has recorded at least five assists in four games this season.
  • DeWitt finished with three points on two goals and an assist while Morgan had three points on a goal and two assists.
  • Marchese scored the first two goals of her career while Davis and Moser scored the first of theirs.
  • Hebert and Schneider added a goal each to give the Dutchmen 11 different goal scorers in the game.
  • Moser won nine draw controls, caused two ground balls, and had four turnovers to lead the defensive effort.
  • The Dutchmen had a 33-7 shot advantage in the game and won 19 of the 29 draw controls. LVC was 13-for-14 on clear attempts and held the Mighty Macs to 6-for-13 on their clears.

LVC will be back on Arnold Field for the final home non-conference game of the year this Wednesday as the Dutchmen take on Albright College with a 4 p.m. start.
