NEWTOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley Men's Cross Country runner
Eric Shelton earned one of the conference's top awards on Tuesday as he was announced as the Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Senior Scholar-Athlete in a release by the conference office.
Shelton, an Exercise Science major, is coming off his best season where he finished eighth at the MAC Championships to earn All-MAC First Team honors. He was a big part of the Dutchmen winning the first team title in program history as the team's fourth finisher with a time of 26:51.1. Shelton ran a career-best time of 25:50.0 at the Mike Woods Invitational and had his best finish at a Regional Championship by crossing the line in 52nd at the Mid-Atlantic Championships this fall.
The senior is an excellent student having earned MAC Academic Honor Roll honors all four years and has been named to the Dean's List six times. He was selected to the Academic All-MAC team just last week and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree last year.
Shelton becomes LVC's second Men's Cross Country award winner after Nick Scullin in 2017. Overall, the Dutchmen now have 39 MAC Senior Scholar-Athletes with at least one in every year since the 2008-09 academic year.
