Dutchmen Men’s Ice Hockey Closes Out Series at Neumann

ASTON, Pa. ­­– The Lebanon Valley College men's ice hockey team concluded its weekend series against Neumann University, as the program battled tough while dropping a 6-0 contest on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Ice Works Rink #3. 

The Dutchmen generated some offensive opportunities early in the first period, putting six shots on goal during the first 4:12. The program tallied two of these attempts during a power play, as Jordan Stear had tries saved at the 3:48 and 4:12 marks. The Knights then scored on a goal by Dustin Patterson at the 6:50 mark and a goal by Tyler Ray at the 7:16 mark, taking a 2-0 lead. Lebanon Valley countered with a shot on target by Dylan Miller, which was saved at the 7:22 mark. Neumann later went on a power play toward the end of the eighth minute and tallied a shot at the 8:45 mark that goaltender Jadon Lee saved for LVC.

The Knights found the net again 9:09 into the first period, making it a 3-0 game on a power-play goal by Jared Coccimiglio. Lee kept battling as the frame progressed, delivering five saves for the Flying Dutchmen over the next 1:55. The goaltender also posted a stop at the 12:52 mark during a successful penalty kill, before registering another save 14:05 into the contest. Lebanon Valley kept working to create scoring chances as well, as John King put a shot on goal during a power play at the 14:56 mark. Max Kontir contributed to these efforts with an attempt that was saved at the 15:40 mark, while Jack Foote's try was saved at the 16:09 mark. The Dutchmen later delivered another successful penalty kill, as Owen Ames logged a block at the 17:52 mark, while Lee made a save at the 18:14 mark. After Neumann's power play ended, Ames tallied another block at the 18:38 mark. 

The Knights scored again 35 seconds into the second period, taking a 4-0 advantage on a goal by Sonny DiNubile. The Dutchmen then went on a power play at the beginning of the second minute and put five shots on goal that were saved during this stretch. During the power play, Miller and Stear had two attempts each, while Ames also registered a try. Neumann added another tally 6:25 into the frame, going up 5-0 on a goal by Nikolai Tishkevich. Later in the second, goaltender Chris Branch recorded five saves for Lebanon Valley during a stretch of 1:08 that began near the end of the 11th minute.

The Flying Dutchmen also kept tallying shots as the second period rolled on, putting five more shots on goal that were saved during the rest of the frame. The team took each of these shots during power plays, with the two final attempts coming on a try by Miller at the 15:02 mark and a shot by Lukas Washco at the 16:48 mark. Branch continued to battle during the remainder of the second as well, making four more saves. The goaltender logged three of these stops during a successful penalty kill, while Miller also blocked an attempt during this stretch. 

The Dutchmen generated some offensive opportunities at the beginning of the third period during a power play, as Mason Proskin put two shots on goal that were saved within 10 seconds in the second minute. Lebanon Valley also sent the puck toward the net a couple of times in the seventh minute during a power play, as Proskin and Wascho each had a shot saved within 12 seconds. Later in the frame, Proskin tallied a shot that was saved at the 8:07 mark before his try during a power play was saved at the 9:27 mark. Kontir contributed to these efforts as well, putting a shot on target that was saved 10:27 into the third. 

Back on the defensive end, Branch kept working to limit the Knights and made more saves for the Flying Dutchmen at the 10:58 and 11:21 marks. Lebanon Valley countered with a shot on goal by Foote at the 12:03 mark, which was saved. Neumann followed this was a shot at the 16:05 mark, which resulted in Branch's 12th save for LVC. The Knights then tacked on a point at the 17:41 mark with a goal by Max Donohoe, prompting 6-0 to be the final score.
