The Dutchmen enter the postseason with a 6-4 overall record and are the third seed in the series after going 6-3 in conference play, losing their three games by a combined five points. They were the only team to defeat MAC Champion, Eastern University, by a score of 24-21 on a Brian Dym walk-off field goal back on Sept. 20. They were also the only other team in the conference, besides Eastern, to defeat the MAC's top seed in the Bowl Series, Delaware Valley University, as the Dutchmen went on the road a week after the Eastern victory to defeat the Aggies 21-18. It was the program's first win over DVU since 2013. A week later, they dropped a heartbreaking 23-21 decision to the MAC's second seed in the series, Misericordia University, on a touchdown on the final play of the game. The Dutchmen began the year battling eventual Centennial Conference Champion Franklin & Marshall College in a close 31-21 defeat.

Ursinus enters the postseason with a 6-4 overall record and is the Centennial's third seed after losing out on a three-way tiebreaker with Carnegie Mellon University and Dickinson College. They are coming off a 27-20 victory over CMU last weekend on Senior Day at Patterson Field after dropping a 47-22 decision at Dickinson the week before. The Bears have two common opponents with the Dutchmen this season, as they defeated Alvernia University 41-17 in Reading on Sept. 5 to begin the year and dropped a 52-20 decision to F&M in Collegeville on Oct. 25.
