Cross Country Runs Fast Time at Last Chance Home Meet

LEBANON, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley cross country teams wrapped up the regular season with fast times on Friday as the Dutchmen hosted the Last Chance Run Fast Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon. 10 of the 14 runners who competed ran a career-best time at the meet.
 
The women's team only had four runners compete at the meet and did not record a team score in the first race of the day. Madison Sneath led the squad with a time of 27:02.0 on the 6,000-meter course to finish eighth out of 39 finishers. The sophomore earned the first top 10 finish of her career and ran over 1:40 faster than she did at this meet last fall. Grace Buerke finished 12th with a season-best time of 28:31.0. The first-year was just over 15 seconds faster than her previous best time this season. Ciara Millan ran 28:48.0 to finish 13th with her second-fastest time of the year. Senior Brooke Eberhard had her best time of the year and used a strong finish to cross the line in 26th at 31:55.0.
 
Penn State Shenango sophomore Faith Sullivan won the individual title by over a minute with a time of 24:46.5. Brianna Strittmatter of Penn State Berks was second in 25:54.6. Monroe University finished first out of four teams that scored with 41 points. Penn College was a close second with 43 points. Penn State Schuylkill finished third at 60 points, and Penn State Altoona was fourth with 69 points.
 
The Dutchmen men's team did not race their top 10 runners and showed their depth as they won the men's race with 31 points. LVC put five in the top 10 and seven in the top 15. This is the second consecutive year the Dutchmen have won this meet. Monroe University was second with 69 points behind individual champion Nkanyezi Ziqubu, who cleared the 8,000-meter course in 25:31.0. DeSales University was third with 69 points, Penn College finished fourth with 91 points, Penn State DuBois was fifth with 132 points, and Penn State Scranton rounded out the scoring teams with 145 points.
 
Liam Allen led the Dutchmen with a career-best time of 26:46.0 to finish second in the field of 55. The sophomore ran nearly the same exact time last year to win the meet. Chad Keller was fifth with a career-best time of 27:03.5 while Dylan Miller was sixth in a career-best 27:19.0. Caden Bell ran 28:05.1 to finish eighth as LVC's fourth finisher. Aidan Jennings finished 10th with a career-best time of 28:24.3, Owen Kreider ran a career-best 28:30.7 to cross the line 12th, and Ben Graybeal rounded out the top seven in a career-best 28:40.0 to finish 13th. Jason Nester finished 16th with a career-best time of 28:56.3, Ethan Darlington was 23rd in a career-best 29:37.6, and junior Trevor Gipe ran a career-best time of 29:38.9 to finish 24th.
 
Lebanon Valley will next compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships next Saturday, Nov. 1, on the campus of Delaware Valley University in Doylestown. The first race of the meet is scheduled for 11 a.m.
