Women’s Tennis Dominates Lions in Fall Finale

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team finished the fall season with a dominant 7-0 victory over visiting Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center in Annville.
 
The Dutchmen (2-1) won all nine matches to earn their second 7-0 win this season. All three doubles matches were done in 21 minutes, and then LVC won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Four of the singles matches lasted under an hour.
 
Inside the Box
  • Katie Berra and Megan Martin finished first in doubles with a 6-0 victory at number two. They went undefeated in doubles with a 3-0 record this fall.
  • Erika Badner and Nikki Denbowski were the second doubles court to finish with a 6-0 win at number three. The duo finishes the fall with a 5-1 record in doubles.
  • Sarah McComas and Catherine Stone won 6-1 at number one to finish off the doubles sweep. The pair were 2-1 in dual matches as playing partners this fall.
  • Stone made quick work in singles as she earned her first double bagel of the year with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number two. Stone won all three of her singles matches during dual play this fall.
  • Badner was the next court to finish at number three as the sophomore won 6-2, 6-0. She finished the fall with a 2-1 record in duals and played up a flight after playing at number four singles for all her previous matches.
  • McComas clinched the match victory at number one singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win. She finishes the fall with a 2-1 singles record in duals.
  • Laken Kelly won 6-1, 6-3 at number four singles. The sophomore also finished the fall with a 2-1 dual record in singles play.
  • Gigi Guay played her first singles match of the year and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six. The double bagel was the first in the senior's career.
  • Denbowski lost her first set at number five before rallying to win her match 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5). The senior won her first career singles match that she played.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will next compete in the spring. LVC will head to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Spring Tennis Fest as the team's annual spring break trip. The first home match will be on Wednesday, March 11, at 4 p.m. against Drew University.
