GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Megan Martin and
Katie Berra won at doubles and singles play to lead the Lebanon Valley women's tennis team in a tough 4-3 defeat at Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon.
LVC lost a close battle in doubles as the Bullets took the first and third courts with strong finishes in each match. The Dutchmen earned a convincing win at number two. The teams then split the six singles matches, with the result of the match coming down to the final match at number six. LVC won at numbers two, three, and five.
Inside the Results
- Martin and Berra cruised in their double match with a dominant 6-1 victory.
- Martin was then the first singles player to finish with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number three.
- Berra evened the match at two with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at number five.
- Catherine Stone won LVC's final singles match of the day with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory at number two.
- Stone and Sarah McComas battled to a 6-4 defeat at number one doubles, while Erika Badner and Nikki Denbowski were handed a close 7-5 defeat at number three doubles.
- Badner also had a close singles match at number four, dropping a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 decision.

The Dutchmen will be off for 10 days before returning to action on Oct. 11 for a Homecoming dual with Division II Shippensburg University at 4 p.m. at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
