Bohannon Fuels Comeback Victory over DeSales

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Braden Bohannon made the most out of his first start of the year with 15 points including 11 in the second half to power the Lebanon Valley Men's Basketball team to a thrilling 60-54 comeback victory over DeSales University on Saturday afternoon on Hot Dog Frank Day at Sorrentino Gymnasium.

The Dutchmen (8-7, 2-2 MAC Freedom) overcame a 16-point second half deficit outscoring the Bulldogs (8-7, 2-2 MAC Freedom) 41-20 over the final 18 minutes of the game. DeSales used a pair of threes to take an early 6-2 lead. Bohannon and Kyle Tang scored in the paint to tie the game up at six with a little of 16 minutes to go in the half. Neither team was able to score over the next two minutes until the Bulldogs knocked down another three and then scored on a pair of offensive put backs to go up by seven.

After a timeout, DSU hit a third three-pointer to go up by 10 before Evan Smith ended the scoring run with a three off a feed by Ryan Harder. The Bulldogs were able to build the lead back up to 11 when Jason Penn knocked down a three to make it 22-14 with six minutes left. DeSales responded with an 10-2 run over the next four minutes to go up by 16. Bohannon scored in the paint and then Harder knocked down one of two free throws to send the Dutchmen into the half down 32-19.

The Bulldogs began the second half with the only points of the first two minutes on a three pointer. Bohannon got the comeback started with a made jumper and steal. Harder then knocked down a three and the advantage was down to 11. DeSales managed to get the lead back up to 15 with 14 minutes on the clock but LVC responded with a layup by Timochenko and three free throws by Harder made it 41-31 a minute later. LVC cut the lead in half again with another three by Harder and a bucket from Timochenko off a great pass from Penn. Timochenko then scored on another strong inside move to get the dutchmen within three at 43-40 with a little over eight minutes left. A pair of free throws by DSU were answered by Harder with a three from the top of the key.

DeSales still led by four with just over five minutes on the clock when Bohannon scored on a driving layup, pulled down a defensive rebound, and then knocked down a pull up jumper to tie the game at 48. Neither team scored again until the Bulldogs hit two foul shots with 2:29 to go. Smith gave the Dutchmen the lead for the first time as he knocked down a three. DeSales answered at the other end with a layup and then Tang drew a foul and knocked down both attempts at the line to give LVC a 53-52 advantage with a minute left.
