NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team earned recognition for its strong 2024 season, as the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) office announced in a release on Tuesday that four of the program's student-athletes were selected to the All-MAC Freedom Women's Lacrosse Team. Senior attacker Emily Beard, graduate student midfielder Erin Zieber, and senior defender Hana Neff were each named to the First Team, while junior attacker Alyssa Wene was honored on the Second Team.
Beard was presented with the first All-MAC Freedom honors of her career, following an impressive senior season. The attacker led the team with 91 points and 69 goals while tying for second on the team with 22 assists. Through the MAC Freedom Championship, Beard led the conference in points and ranked second in goals. Among the Lebanon Valley team, the senior was also second with four game-winning goals and 13 free-position goals. Additionally, Beard picked up 27 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and had 52 draw controls. The attacker was a key contributor to several victories during the season, including LVC's win at Delaware Valley University on April 13, in which she had a career-high 10 points with a career-most eight goals. Beard also netted the game-winning goals at Immaculata University on March 22, at Albright College on March 27, at King's College on April 6, and against DeSales University on April 20. The conference also recognized the senior for her efforts during the year, as she was named the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week on February 19 and March 25.
Zieber was selected to an All-Conference team for the second time in her career, after being named to the All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team in 2023. The graduate student led the Flying Dutchmen with 115 draw controls, which marks the program's single-season record. After the MAC Freedom Championship, she ranked third in the conference in draw controls. The midfielder also set the program single-game record with 16 draw controls in Lebanon Valley's victory at King's. This performance helped the graduate student earn MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week honors on April 8. Zieber tied for the team lead in ground balls with 33 and for third with 11 caused turnovers as well. Offensively, Zieber recorded 32 points while tying for third on the squad with 27 goals and dishing out five assists. The senior also played a key role in LVC's win at Delaware Valley, tying a career-high five goals to tie a season-high five points while registering a campaign-most five ground balls.
Neff received All-Conference recognition for the first time in her career, following a stellar senior campaign. The defender tied for the team lead in ground balls with 33 and led the Dutchmen with 15 caused turnovers during the season. Neff tied a career-high four caused turnovers and a season-high four ground balls in the overtime victory at Marywood University on February 27, while matching this ground balls total in the win at Immaculata. Offensively, the senior scored the game-winning goal in LVC's victory over Misericordia University on April 17. Neff also tied a career-high two goals while dishing out an assist in the win at Delaware Valley.
Wene also earned a spot on an All-Conference team for the first time in her career, after an excellent junior season. The attacker ranked second on the team with 73 points and 63 goals while leading the program with five game-winning goals and 17 free-position goals. Through the MAC Freedom Championship, she was tied for third in the conference in goals while tying for fifth in points. One of Wene's most impactful games of the season came during LVC's MAC Freedom Semifinal win against third-seed Misericordia University on May 1, tying the program record for goals in a game with nine while dishing out an assist for a career-high 10 points. Wene also netted the game-winning goals at Marywood, against Eastern University on March 20, against Arcadia University on April 10, at Delaware Valley, and at FDU-Florham on April 24. Defensively, she tied for the team lead in ground balls with 33 and for third in caused turnovers with 11. The junior registered career-highs with three caused turnovers at Marywood and six ground balls at Delaware Valley as well. Additionally, Wene had the second-most draw controls for Lebanon Valley with 70, ranking seventh in the MAC Freedom. Along with her offensive success in the MAC Freedom Semifinal, the attacker posted a career-high 10 draw controls in the victory.
