NORTH BERGEN, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team battled to the end in a 5-0 defeat to top-seeded and nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship match at Braddock Park in the North Bergen, New Jersey.
The Dutchmen (12-9) played the 45th-ranked Ducks (13-6) tough in all nine matches as Stevens won the MAC Freedom title for the fourth consecutive year. The Ducks won all three doubles matches and then clinched the match victory with singles wins at number two and number six.
Inside the Box
- Adam Warren and Ethan Luu had an early lead at number two doubles as they jumped out to a 4-3 lead. The Ducks rallied for the final five points of the match to win 8-4.
- Jacob Erb and Jared Hostetter were defeated 8-2 at number three doubles. The duo played their opponents closely as Stevens led 4-2 after six games. The Ducks won the last four games to win the match.
- Colin Brusse and Michael Schuetz had a tough task at number one doubles and were defeated 8-1 by the Ducks' top doubles team.
- The Ducks increased the lead to 4-0 in singles as Hostetter was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at number six.
- Erb dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at number two singles to clinch the match victory for the Ducks.
- Warren had a great match at number one singles despite dropping the first set. He rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the set to bring the final set score to 6-4. His match did not have a point scored in the second set.
- Schuetz, Brusse, and Luu all had their matches left unfinished at number three, four, and five singles. All three dropped their first sets by 5-2 scores. Schuetz and Brusse were down 5-0 in the second set while Luu was down 4-0.

A great season for the Dutchmen comes to an end with a 12-9 overall record. LVC went 5-1 in conference play with their only loss coming to the Ducks.
