ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team battled late into the evening on Saturday before dropping a heartbreaking 5-4 decision to Misericordia University at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
The match started later than scheduled due to early afternoon rain that made the courts too wet to play. Once it stopped raining and the courts dried up the match got underway. The match was tightly contested all the way throughout with four of six singles decisions needing three sets.
Inside the Box
- Nicole Honrade and Jacquelyn McBride stayed unbeaten at number one doubles with an 8-7 (7-3) victory.
- Eliana Shenk and Megan Martin gave the Dutchmen a 2-1 lead with an 8-5 win at number three doubles.
- McBride won her number two singles match 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 to improve to 14-4 on the year in singles.
- Honrade battled strong against regionally ranked Brianna Pizzano at number one taking the first set. Pizzano won the next two sets to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.
- Shenk earned a thrilling 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at number five singles for a three-set comeback victory.
- Martin almost completed a thrilling comeback in a tough 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) defeat at number six singles.

The Dutchmen will have a rematch with the Cougars on Tuesday in the semifinals of the MAC Freedom Championship. LVC will head up to Dallas to face the second seeded Cougars on their home courts.
