ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team officially clinched their spot in next week's MAC Freedom Championships with a dominant 8-1 victory over visiting DeSales University on Wednesday at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
The Dutchmen (15-2, 4-1 MAC Freedom) honored four seniors prior to the match. After taking all three doubles matches in about 35 minutes, the teams had just started singles play before a short rainstorm stopped play. Once the courts were dry enough to continue play, LVC won five of the six singles matches for their 15th win of the year.
Inside the Box
- Jacquelyn McBride and Nicole Honrade continued their doubles winning streak with an 8-0 victory at number one.
- Sarah McComas and Sarah Kramer were the next court to finish with an 8-0 victory at number two.
- Eliana Shenk and Megan Martin gave LVC the sweep with an 8-2 victory at number three doubles.
- Honrade won her 10th singles match of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number one.
- McBride clinched the match victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two.
- McComas won her team-best 17th singles match of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number three.
- Shenk cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at number five singles to improve to 12-4.
- Senior Kendall Halsey won her second consecutive match with a 6-2,6-0 win at number six singles.
- Kramer battled in a marathon three-set defeat as she fell 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 13-11.
- The win was the program's 23rd consecutive at the Shankroff Tennis Center.

The Dutchmen will close out the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a big home match against Misericordia University. The Dutchmen and Cougars are tied for second in the conference standings at 4-1 and the winner of Saturday's match will have home court advantage when the teams meet again next Tuesday in the MAC Freedom Semifinal.
