MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Duncan Weir extended his hitting streak to six games with a single in the seventh inning, as the Lebanon Valley College baseball team dropped a 20-0 contest to No. 23 Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday, April 17 at Nittany Field.
The Lions got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, taking an early 2-0 lead after a solo home run to left field and an RBI single to left. Penn State Harrisburg then had runners on first and second base with no outs in the bottom of the second, but the Dutchmen quickly got two outs with a double play. Hayden Fravel proceeded to complete the scoreless frame with a groundout to shortstop.
Penn State Harrisburg added five runs in the bottom of the third inning, making it a 7-0 game after a frame that included a three-run triple to center field and an RBI infield single to the left side. The Flying Dutchmen kept battling at the plate as the contest went into the top of the fourth inning, as
Logan Brewer hit a two-out single to right field before Berry sent a single into left field. The Lions tacked on another with an RBI single to right-center in the bottom of the fourth before recording a two-run single through the right side in the fifth, going ahead 10-0.
Penn State Harrisburg then scored eight in the bottom of the sixth and added two more in the bottom of the seventh inning, advancing the score to 20-0. Lebanon Valley continued to compete in the batter's box as the contest progressed. Weir singled to third base in the top of the seventh and
Lincoln Hower got into scoring position in the eighth with a one-out single to second base, before moving up to second on a throwing error.
Dallas Alexander entered the game to pitch for the Dutchmen in the bottom of the eighth inning and posted a zero in his collegiate debut. The southpaw got the first batter he faced to ground out to second before he later fielded a grounder on the mound to start an inning-ending double play. Ultimately, the score was maintained through the end of the contest.
