McBride, McComas, and Shenk Win Twice in Spring Break Finale

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Jacquelyn McBride, Sarah McComas, and Eliana Shenk each had two wins as the Lebanon Valley women's tennis team defeated Gordon College 6-3 on Friday morning at the Hilton Head Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
 
LVC improved to 8-0 on the year while Gordon dropped to 8-9. The Dutchmen won two of the three doubles matches before taking four of the six singles flights. The teams played eight-point pro sets in singles on the final day down south for both teams prior to traveling back north.
 
Inside the Box
  • McBride and McComas cruised to an 8-1 victory at number one doubles for their sixth consecutive victory.
  • Sarah Kramer and Shenk gave LVC the lead after doubles with an 8-3 win at number two. The duo improved to 2-1 this year when playing together.
  • Megan Martin and Jenna Miner dropped a hard-fought 8-5 decision at number three doubles.
  • McComas improved to 10-1 in singles play with an 8-3 win at number two.
  • McBride won 8-4 at number one for her eighth win of the year and fourth straight.
  • Shenk improved to 5-2 overall and won her first match of the season at number three singles with an 8-5 victory.
  • Miner won 8-5 at number five singles to improve to 4-2 on the year.
  • Martin was handed her first defeat of the year in singles in an incredibly close 8-7 (12-10) decision.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will return to Annville where they will have just the second home match of the year next Saturday, March 16, at the Shankroff Tennis Center. LVC will square off against York College of Pennsylvania at 12 p.m. in a rematch of the last three MAC Commonwealth Championship matches. The Dutchmen have defeated the Spartans in the last four meetings over the past two years after York won a pair of close 5-4 decisions in 2021.
