HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Lebanon Valley women's tennis team improved to 6-0 with an 8-1 victory over University of Mount Union on Monday afternoon at the Hilton Head Resort in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Dutchmen won all three doubles matches and then took five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The six wins to start the season are the most since 2009-10 when LVC won the first 12 matches on the way to a 17-3 record.
Inside the Box
- Jacquelyn McBride and Eliana Shenk teamed up for an 8-1 win at number one doubles.
- Abbey DeLisio and Sarah Kramer also won 8-1 at number three doubles.
- Sarah McComas and Megan Martin won 8-2 at number two doubles.
- The Dutchmen have used 13 different doubles combinations this year and are 19-5.
- McBride improved to 6-2 in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number one.
- McComas is 8-1 after a 6-1, 6-4 win at number two singles.
- Martin won 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 to improve to 6-0 at number four singles.
- Jenna Miner won 6-3, 6-1 at number five singles to improve to 3-1.
- Kendall Halsey won 7-5, 6-4 at number six singles in her first singles match of the season.
Up Next
The Dutchmen were scheduled to take on Division II Clarion University tomorrow afternoon, but that match has been canceled. LVC will attempt to replace the match with a different team, but the next currently scheduled match is on Thursday when LVC will face Roanoke College at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort at 11 a.m. in the final match of the week.
