Four Dutchmen Record Multi-Hit Games in Series Opener at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley baseball team had 10 hits with four different Dutchmen recording multi-hit games in a tough 3-2 defeat to host FDU-Florham on Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Ballpark in Madison, New Jersey.

LVC put runners on the corners with one out in the first as Nico Santoro reached on an error and the moved over the third on a Logan Brewer single through the right side. The Devils were able to get out of the inning with a double play on a hard grounder to third. The Dutchmen scored the first run of the game in the third inning as Tyler Satterfield led off with a double down the right field line and then scored two batters later on a Santoro single to left. The Devils responded in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out rally that scored two runs. FDU-Florham loaded the bases on two singles and a walk before a single up the middle plated two runs.

Justin Ranker started a two-out rally in the top of the fourth for LVC with a single through the left side. Satterfield hit a single to right and then Pete Botbyl took a pitch off the arm to load the bases. The Devils were able to get out of the jam with a pop out in foul territory to the first baseman. FDU-Florham added to the lead in the fifth with a one out triple down the line in right and then a suicide squeeze in front of the plate.

The Dutchmen had a chance to take the lead in the seventh as the first three hitters reached base. Botbyl and Santoro hit singles through the right side before Brewer knocked in a run with a ground-rule double down the line in right. Ryan Murphy drew a one-out walk to load the bases and the Devils made a pitching change. The new pitcher came in and got a ground ball up the middle for an inning-ending double play. He then retired the final six Dutchmen in order to hold on for the series-opening win.
