ANNVILLE, Pa. – Emily Beard and
Bethany Cohee both registered seven points for the Lebanon Valley College women's lacrosse team, helping lead the program to a dominant 21-3 victory over Eastern University on Wednesday, March 20 at Arnold Field.
The Flying Dutchmen (3-4) were productive offensively from the start, scoring the first seven goals of the game to take a 7-0 lead over the Eagles (1-5) after the first quarter. Beard opened the scoring with a free position goal 4:44 into the game before
Alyssa Wene found the net for LVC just one minute later. This was followed by
Erin Zieber sending a shot past the goalkeeper with 6:49 to go. Zieber then won the draw control to give Lebanon Valley possession, leading to Wene netting her second goal of the contest just 15 seconds later.
The Dutchmen scored again with 3:24 left in the opening quarter, claiming a 5-0 lead following a woman-up goal by
Hana Neff. The squad added another point with 1:51 to play, going ahead by six on Wene's third goal after an assist by
Elizabeth Morgan. The frame was capped off by Beard's second goal of the night, putting LVC up 7-0 with just 14 seconds on the clock.
Lebanon Valley kept its offense rolling at the start of the second quarter, advancing the score to 8-0 just 22 seconds into the frame on another goal by Zieber. The Flying Dutchmen then went ahead by nine with 12:37 remaining, as
Anna Lougee sent a shot into the net after Cohee dished out an assist. The program added another tally with 10:43 to go, extending their advantage to 10-0 on a goal by Zieber with another assist from Cohee.
The Dutchmen made it an 11-0 game 1:12 later after Cohee scored a goal of her own, courtesy of an assist by Morgan. This was followed by Beard netting a goal to put LVC ahead 12-0 with 3:57 left in the first half, following an assist by Morgan. Eastern closed out the stanza with two goals, narrowing the score to 12-2 as the game entered halftime.
The Eagles began the scoring in the second half, trimming their deficit to 12-3 with a goal 3:14 into the third quarter. Lebanon Valley responded with three consecutive goals by Lougee, extending its lead to 15-3 with 5:53 to go. During this stretch, the senior's first goal was assisted by Zieber, Cohee was credited with the assist on the second, and the third was unassisted.
Kyla Hebert then netted a goal after an assist by Morgan, putting the team ahead by 13. Beard followed this with her fourth goal of the contest from another assist by Cohee, putting LVC ahead 17-3 with 3:22 remaining in the third.
The Flying Dutchmen found the net again early in the fourth quarter, extending their lead to 19-3 with 7:20 to play after a pair of goals. Beard tallied both goals during this stretch, sending a shot past the goalkeeper with 10:56 left and scoring with 7:20 on the clock. The senior's fifth goal of the game was assisted by Cohee while the sixth was dished out by Morgan. Lebanon Valley put another tally on the board with 3:20 to go in the fourth, making it a 20-3 contest on a goal by Zieber after Cohee's sixth assist. LVC's final goal of the night was scored by Katie Guisti with an assist by Beard, providing the squad with a 21-3 advantage when there were 41 seconds left.

- Wene found the net three times, including the game-winner. The junior brought her goals total to 15 on the year while posting four ground balls to set a game-high and tie a season-high.
- Giusti netted her first career goal.
- Morgan was credited with a season-high five assists.
- Hebert scored her first goal of the season.
- Neff tallied her third goal of the campaign.
- Lebanon Valley outshot Eastern 35 to eight. Beard also posted game-highs with 13 shots and 11 attempts on goal, marking the most by an LVC player this season.
- The Flying Dutchmen went 13-for-14 on clears.
- LVC had the advantage on ground balls with 19 while Eastern had six.
