Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Six Players Record Points for Men’s Ice Hockey in Win Over Manhattanville

HERSHEY, Pa. – Mason Proskin was one of six players to tally a point for the Lebanon Valley College men's ice hockey team, scoring his first career goal in the program's 4-1 victory over Manhattanville College on Saturday, Feb. 3 at Hersheypark Arena.

The Dutchmen received contributions from several players on Saturday, as strong performances on both sides of the ice fueled the squad's victory over the Valiants. Blake Tosto was a key contributor for Lebanon Valley, netting a pair of goals in the contest. The team also got the job done on the defensive end, blocking a season-high 30 shots while goaltender Jadon Lee made 32 saves.

The programs battled on the defensive end early, keeping the contest in a 0-0 tie for over 16 minutes at the start. Lee was stellar in the first period for LVC, saving all 12 shots on goal he faced over the first 15:02. Manhattanville took a pair of shots within five seconds during the 11th minute, but Lee made stops on each of these attempts.

Lebanon Valley also worked to generate offensive chances in the first, taking 12 shots on goal in the opening 15:45. Justin Davis and Jered Stevenson contributed to these efforts with an attempt each in the eighth minute. The Dutchmen then opened the scoring 16:02 into the first period, taking a 1-0 lead over the Valiants. Tosto got the program on the board by sending a shot past the goaltender, following assists by Cade Freer and Ethan Hoover

Lebanon Valley put another tally on the board 2:47 into the second period, extending their advantage to 2-0. Proskin found the upper-right corner of the net for a short-handed goal, courtesy of assists by Harris Blackwood and Artem Mikhaylov. This marks LVC's third short-handed goal of the campaign.

The defenses of both programs then proceeded to dominate through the remaining 17:13 of the frame, keeping each other off the board during this stretch. Lee continued to limit the Valiants as the contest progressed, registering six more saves in the second period. The Flying Dutchmen also kept sending the puck toward the goaltender, including two attempts each by Tosto and Darion Benchich

The Valiants got on the scoreboard one minute into the third period, trimming their deficit to 2-1 on a power-play goal by Johno Hoins. Manhattanville also continued to generate offensive opportunities as the frame went on, recording 14 shots on goal in the next 13:02. Lee was dominant during this stretch, saving each shot that came his way to preserve LVC's lead.

The Dutchmen added an important insurance goal 16:59 into the third, claiming a 3-1 advantage. The squad went ahead by two with just over three minutes left after a goal by Blackwood. Lebanon Valley then tacked on another point with just 16 seconds remaining, as Tosto delivered an empty net goal to secure the 4-1 win.
