DeSales evened things up at the other end of the floor. Evin Timochenko found a streaking Kyle Tang for an easy layup and then Harder hit a pull up jumper in the paint to put the Dutchmen up by four. Karson Pavlik scored in the paint before a three-pointer by the Bulldogs gave DSU their first lead of the game at 17-16. A made three-pointer on their next trip down the court forced the Dutchmen to call timeout down by four with just under 10 minutes to go in the half. The Bulldogs outscored the Dutchmen 7-1 over the next three minutes to take a 10-point lead. LVC got it down to six on a Garcia bucket and then a Harder jumper with four minutes left. DeSales closed the half on a 13-0 run over those last four minutes to take a 40-21 lead into the locker room.

The run continued into the second half as DeSales scored on the first possession.
