Anna Lougee and Andrew Dennison - USA Lacrosse

Dutchmen Lacrosse Alumni Work with USA Lacrosse

12/12/2024 3:08:00 PM

After Anna Lougee '24 graduated from Lebanon Valley College and finished her career with the Women's Lacrosse team last spring, it wasn't long before she found her next path in the sport. Shortly after Commencement, Lougee was hired as an Email Marketing Coordinator at USA Lacrosse by former Dutchmen Men's Lacrosse player Andrew Dennison '14.

"I had played lacrosse since fifth grade and was sad to see my time as a player come to an end," Lougee said. "Working with USA Lacrosse allows me to keep up with the sport I love. I can see the National Team's practices and even catch some Athletes Unlimited (AU) Pro lacrosse games after work right outside my office."

Lougee earned a bachelor's in Business Administration from LVC in May 2024 before landing this position with USA Lacrosse. A pivotal member of the Flying Dutchmen squad, she served as a two-year team captain while tallying 35 career points and 51 ground balls.

In Lougee's new position, her responsibilities include managing the organization's email marketing calendar and creating and sending all emails. She also helps produce newsletters to send to the organization's members and target audiences, including players, families, coaches, and officials.

Lougee was hired for the role by Dennison, who began working with USA Lacrosse as a Senior Manager of Email Marketing in December 2023. Dennison competed for LVC's Men's Lacrosse squad for four years, posting 33 points and 41 ground balls during his collegiate career.

"Working with someone else who graduated from LVC has been great," Dennison said. "Even though Anna and I graduated a decade apart, we had an immediate familiarity with the lacrosse program, school traditions like Dutchmen Day, and Annville. I was extremely excited to hire Anna and proud that out of the more than 100 applicants who applied for the role, the best and most qualified one was a student from my college."

Lougee said she enjoys working with a fellow alumnus of Lebanon Valley.

"It is nice to be able to talk about our times at LVC and compare our experiences in the classroom and on the lacrosse field," Lougee said. "Having a common connection integral to our professional backgrounds helps us understand how the other works."

Dennison plays a key role in growing the sport of lacrosse in the United States, as he is responsible for the organization's email communication to over 400,000 members. He also works on the organization's strategy to engage new and past members. In addition, he continues to participate in lacrosse as a shot clock, game clock, and scoreboard operator for high school and college games played at USA Lacrosse's William G. Tierney Field in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland.

"I love being able to stay involved with the game on and off the field," Dennison said. "Being in a role where I can communicate with players and our sport's positive impact on communities and individuals is awesome."

Dennison graduated from LVC in 2014 with a bachelor's in Digital Communications (DigiCOM) and partly credits his professional success to lessons he learned through his Lebanon Valley education.

"The collaboration through group projects and the experience I got using programs like Adobe Photoshop gave me a head start in the workforce," Dennison said. "But the biggest thing that my DigiCOM professors taught me was identifying problems and seeking solutions. Problem-solving is a critical skill in marketing, and the foundation I formed at LVC has allowed me to advance in my career."

Lougee echoed a similar sentiment, expressing that her courses at the College prepared her to thrive in the field after graduation.

"LVC does a great job of weaving real-world experiences into classroom learning," Lougee said. "Having professors who are not just faculty but also work in businesses throughout Pennsylvania helped me set expectations on what life after college would look like. The time management skills I mastered while balancing academics and athletics have set me up for success at USA Lacrosse."
