GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Volleyball team earned a big conference victory on Wednesday evening as the Dutchmen defeated Arcadia University 3-1 inside Alumni Gymnasium in Glenside.
 
The win enabled the Dutchmen to improve to 2-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play while the Knights dropped to 1-2 in a rematch of last year's semifinal. LVC took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-19. Arcadia won the third set 25-19 and then the Dutchmen closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.
 
The Knights scored the first two points of the match. LVC came right back and scored the next five capped off by a 
Teaguen Reynolds ace and a 
Libby Lindau kill. 
Jillian Jefferys and 
Margaret Cole had a block assist to increase the lead to 7-3. The Dutchmen still had a four-point advantage when Arcadia cut the deficit to 12-11 with three straight points. LVC then used a huge 9-1 run to take a 21-12 lead. Reynolds had a pair of aces, 
Taylor McInerney had four kills, and 
Jasmine Sullivan had an ace during the run. The Knights managed the cut the advantage down to 22-17 before a pair of kills by Jefferys and a kill from 
Mattea Penner ended the set.
 
McInerney and Penner began the second set with kills. The Knights scored four of the next five points to go up 4-3. LVC responded with a 5-1 run capped by a Lindau kill to take an 8-5 lead. Arcadia responded with a run of their own to retake the lead at 11-9. Lindau and McInerney had a pair of kills to tie the set and then Sullivan gave LVC the lead back with an ace. The Dutchmen still led by one point when they used a 6-2 run to extend the lead to 21-16. A pair of McInerney kills and another ace from Sullivan put LVC at match point before Cole finished off the set with a big kill.
 
The third set began with two Penner service aces. Two kills from McInerney and a kill by Lindau grew the advantage to 5-2. The used a big run to take a 10-7 lead. Jefferys and Penner brought the advantage back to one point with kills. Arcadia responded with another big run to go up 22-12. Sullivan led a furious comeback with two aces as the Dutchmen scored seven consecutive points. The Knights scored the next three points to extend the match to a fourth set.
 
Jefferys had a pair of kills, Reynolds had a kill, and the duo had a block assist to get the Dutchmen out to a 6-1 advantage in the fourth set. The Knights were able to score the next four points before LVC countered with four points behind two kills by Penner. A Reynolds service ace built the advantage up to 14-7 before a pair of kills from McInerney and an ace by Sullivan increased the lead to nine points. The Knights were able to cut the advantage back down to two points at 22-20 before LVC ended the match strong with a pair of kills from McInerney and a kill by Cole.
 
Inside the Box
	- McInerney finished with 19 kills and a .304 hitting percentage.
 
	- Penner led the team with a .310 hitting percentage recording a double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs with two aces.
 
	- Sullivan had six of the team's 13 aces and added 17 assists.
 
	- Lindau was the third Dutchman with double digit kills at 10.
 
	- Sofia Okronley led the squad with 22 assists and seven digs.
 
	- Reynolds finished with five aces, three kills, and a block assist.
 
	- Cole had three total blocks and two kills.
 
	- Abigail Souder had 16 digs. Jefferys added three block assists and six kills.
 
	- LVC has now won the past three meetings with the Knights after dropping five consecutive matches when both teams were members of the MAC Commonwealth. 
 
Up Next
The Dutchmen will have another postseason rematch next week with a big trip to Hoboken, N.J. to face defending champion and conference-leading Stevens Institute of Technology. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday October 15 inside Canavan Arena.
