ANNVILLE, Pa.—Kate Fitzpatrick and
Riley Hevelow combined for 54 points to lead Lebanon Valley College to a 66-57 win over visiting Delaware Valley University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday, January 6, in Sorrentino Gymnasium. LVC moves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the MAC, while Delaware Valley drops to 10-3 and 1-1.
Fitzpatrick scored a career-best 30 points, including two three-pointers and an 8-of-10 performance at the free throw line. Hevelow tallied 24 points, two shy of her career-high, on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor.
Trailing by one after the first quarter, Hevelow went to work, scoring 11 of her points in the second quarter as the Dutchmen took a 28-23 lead to the locker room.
Hevelow's hot hand continued into the third quarter. LVC outscored Delaware Valley in that stretch and extended its lead to 47-36. The Rams attempted a rally in the final period, going on a 10-3 run late to pull within 60-53 with 56 seconds remaining. Fitzpatrick made six free throws in the closing minute to secure the LVC win.
