ANNVILLE, Pa.—
Evin Timochenko posted his sixth double-double of the season to spur Lebanon Valley College to a 76-72 victory over visiting Delaware Valley University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday, January 6, in Sorrentino Gymnasium. LVC moves to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in the MAC, while Delaware Valley is now 6-7 and 0-2.
Timochenko scored 21 points to go along with 11 rebounds and four assists and was one of three Dutchmen in double figures.
Evan Smith netted a season-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Ryan Harder added 14 points sparked by a 10-for-10 performance at the charity stripe.
LVC trailed for the opening minutes of the first half, falling behind 19-12 before Timochenko and Harder keyed a 10-0 spurt to give LVC the lead at 22-19 with 6:25 to play in the half. Timochenko then scored six straight for the Dutchmen and
Jevon Griffin sank a three to stretch the lead to 34-24 just before halftime.
The Dutchmen continued to build their lead, opening up a 15-point advantage, 44-29, on a
Wil Laskowski three-pointer at 17:03. But Delaware Valley rallied, outscoring LVC 18-5 over the next seven minutes to pull within two, 49-47. The teams traded baskets and the Rams eventually pulled ahead, 60-58, at 5:16.
Smith countered with back-to-back three-pointers to put the Dutchmen in front for good, 63-60, with 3:51 remaining. Delaware Valley stayed tenacious and pulled within one multiple times in the final minutes. LVC sank all eight of its free throw attempts down the stretch to secure the win.
Inside the Box Score
- Timochenko reached the 20-point plateau for the second time this season. His four assists tie his career best.
- Harder is the 12th Dutchman in history to be perfect at the line with at least 10 free throw attempts. He's the first player to accomplish that feat since Zach Tucker in 2021.
