ANNVILLE, Pa. – First-year forward
Delaynie Reyes scored her first collegiate goal in the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team's 1–1 season-opening tie against Moravian University on Friday at Herbert Field.
Defense was the story of the night, as each program was held to a goal each. The Flying Dutchmen (0-0-1) displayed stellar defense in their first game of the year, holding the Greyhounds (0-0-1) to just one goal. Senior goalkeeper
Jocelyn Umana posted a productive game, saving six shots on goal.
Shots were hard to come by for both squads early in this game, as Moravian managed just three shots and LVC had just one attempt through the first 29-plus minutes of the game. The Greyhounds opened the scoring 29:07 into the first half, as forward Carly Pyatt found the net. Moravian led Lebanon Valley 1–0 as the game entered halftime.
The defenses of both programs continued to limit offensive opportunities at the start of the second half, maintaining the 1–0 score through the first 23:05 of the frame. The Flying Dutchmen evened the Greyhounds at 1-1, 68:05 into the game, as Reyes came through in the clutch by sending her first career goal into the back of the net.
This would ultimately stand as the final score, as neither team put a point on the board during the remainder of the contest. Moravian took a shot as time expired, but the ball sailed to the left of the net.
