Erin Zieber Scores Two Goals, Records 100th Career Draw Control on Senior Night

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Erin Zieber recorded the 100th draw control of her career and scored two goals for the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team on Senior Night at Arnold Field on Friday. The Dutchmen were defeated by visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland 13-10 in a tightly played game.
 
Prior to the game the team honored their three seniors, Sydney Zimmerman, Zieber, and Julia Abendschoen. The Dutchmen (4-8) came out of the gates strong as Emily Beard and Zieber scored unassisted goals in the first five minutes to give LVC a 2-0 lead. The Seahawks (6-5) responded with the final four goals of the first quarter and the first goal of the second to take a 5-2 advantage. Beard stopped the run with a woman-up goal and then Zimmerman scored her first goal of the game off an assist by Veronica Venezia to cut the lead to 5-4 at halftime.
 
Saint Mary's scored the first two goals of the second half before Zimmerman found Molly Whisler over the middle for a goal. The Seahawks scored to make it 8-5 and then Zimmerman assisted on a goal from Venezia. St. Mary's increased their lead to 10-6 before LVC scored three straight goals. Zimmerman started the run at 11:36 of the fourth. Beard completed her hat trick and then Whisler scored her second goal of the game off another assist by Zimmerman. The Seahawks responded with three consecutive goals of their own before Zieber tallied her second unassisted goal.

  • Abendschoen made eight saves in goal and stopped both free position shots.

The Dutchmen will be back in action on Wednesday with a trip to St. Davids to take on Eastern University at 4 p.m. in a big conference matchup.
