Dutchmen Men’s Lacrosse Ends Season with Senior Night Victory over Albright

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team gave their seven seniors one last victory on Arnold Field with a big 20-10 victory over Albright College in the final game of the season for the Dutchmen.
 
Jake Bollinger gave the Dutchmen (8-9, 2-6 MAC Commonwealth) the early lead with a rocket into the back of the net off an assist by Alex Kiviniemi. The Lions (3-13, 1-6 MAC Commonwealth) responded with an unassisted goal less than a minute later. LVC jumped back on top with three consecutive goals in a span of a few minutes. Carson Frey set up Josh Reinhardt for the go-ahead goal before Bollinger and Kiviniemi teamed up again to make it 3-1. Frey recorded his second assist of the game on a stellar pass to the front of the goal for an great goal by Colin Hughes. Albright stopped the run with another unassisted goal, but LVC responded with the final four goals of the quarter to take an 8-2 lead. Hughes, Evan Miller, Bollinger, and Kiviniemi had the goals with Jacob Mrose, Trey Ralston, and Jack Kapcsos providing the assists.
 
Albright started the second quarter with three goals to cut the lead down to three. LVC responded with four straight goals and five out of the last six goals of the half to increase their lead to 13-6. The Dutchmen had five different goal scorers during the quarter with Hughes, Kiviniemi, Ralston, and Kapcsos all finding the back of the net. The Lions were able to score twice in the third quarter but LVC had four goals in between the two increasing the lead even more to 17-8 heading into the fourth. The Dutchmen started the fourth with three goals in the first seven minutes before Albright scored twice in the final three minutes to set the final score.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Dutchmen scored 20 goals for the second time this year. They also scored 20 in their home opener against Moravian. LVC had a season-high 36 points on 65 shots.
  • Five different Dutchmen had five points in the game.
  • Seniors Carson Frey and Alex Kiviniemi had two goals and three assists each. Kiviniemi finishes his outstanding career with 134 points on 106 goals and 28 assists. Frey finishes with an outstanding 149 points on 82 goals and 67 assists.
  • Hughes and Bollinger each had four goals and one assist while Ralston added two goals and three assists.
  • Kapcsos had four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Ben Weathersby had an assist and led the team with four caused turnovers and five ground balls.
  • Mitchell Gearhart won 13 faceoffs while Kellen Markley made nine saves in 52 minutes of action.
  • LVC's defense allowed just 26 total shots and forced 32 turnovers. The Dutchmen held Albright to 10-23 on clear attempts.
 
LVC finishes their final year in the MAC Commonwealth with an 8-9 overall record and 2-6 mark in conference play. Next season the Dutchmen will play in the MAC Freedom.
