ANNVILLE, Pa. – Maria Brandt scored twice for the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought defeat to ninth-ranked York College of Pennsylvania in the final home game of the season. The visiting Spartans used a big first quarter to defeat the Dutchmen 20-5.
LVC (5-11, 2-5 MAC Commonwealth) scored in each quarter against the highly ranked Spartans (12-3. 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) in the last meeting as conference opponents between the programs. York scored the first six goals of the game before
Emily Beard put the Dutchmen on the board with her 25th goal of the season. The Spartans were able to increase their lead to 14-1 before Brandt scored her first goal of the game on a free position with just over eight minutes to go in the half. Brandt scored her second goal of the game in the third quarter off an assist by
Molly Whisler to cut the deficit to 17-3.
Veronica Venezia ended the scoring in the quarter with an unassisted goal in the final minute to make it a 19-4 game. After York scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, Whisler found
Erin Zieber over the middle for the senior's 18th goal of the year.
