ANNVILLE, Pa. – Emily Beard and
Maria Brandt both scored three goals for the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team on Wednesday afternoon in a heartbreaking 8-7 defeat to visiting Hood College on Arnold Field.
LVC (5-10, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) scored the first two goals of the game. Brandt scored just nearly five minutes into the contest and then Beard added a goal off a nice pass from
Veronica Venezia nearly five minutes later. The Blazers (5-9, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board with a goal to cut the lead to 2-1 after the first quarter of play. Brandt scored back-to-back goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter to increase the lead to 4-1. Beard and Venezia had assists on the goals. Hood scored with 9:36 left on the clock before Venezia gave LVC back a three-goal advantage with a woman-up goal off an assist from Beard. The Blazers were able to get a goal to bring the lead to 5-3 going into halftime.
Hood started the scoring in the third quarter with an unassisted goal. Beard finished off her hat trick with two goals at 9:12 and 2:01 to give the Dutchmen a 7-4 lead. The Blazers were able to score twice in the final two minutes of the quarter to cut the lead to one. Hood tied the game with a free position goal 1:05 into the fourth quarter and then scored the game-winner with 3:23 left.

- Beard led the team with a game-high five points on three goals and two assists. It is her third game of the year with at least five points and fourth hat trick. Beard also led the team with four ground balls and three draw controls.
- Brandt recorded her second hat trick of the year with three goals on six shots.
- Venezia moved closer to breaking the program career point record with three points on one goal and two assists. She now has 199 career assists.
- Erin Zieber had three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and three ground balls.
- Julia Abendschoen made eight saves in goal.
