Dutchmen Hit Four Home Runs and Craig Records 100th Hit at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Julia Craig had four hits on the day including the 100th of her career and Nicole Kratz hit two of the four home runs in game one to power the Lebanon Valley softball team to a split at Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchmen won the opener 10-1 in six innings while the Warriors won the second game 1-0 behind a fantastic pitching performance.

Game One
The Dutchmen (21-4) gave Jordan Walter plenty of run support in the first inning with four runs. After a pair of singles, Lindsey McCurdy knocked in a run on a double off the fence in center. She then scored two batters later as Kratz blasted a three-run homer to right field. McCurdy and Kratz increased the lead to 6-0 in the third with solo home runs. McCurdy sent a 1-1 pitch over the fence in left and then Kratz hit her second home run of the game to right center with two outs in the inning. Lycoming (17-8) got on the board in the fourth with a leadoff double and then two ground balls to the right side. In the sixth, LVC loaded the bases with two singles and a walk to start the inning. Brooke Edwards cleared the bases with a pinch-hit grand slam to right center after working a full count.

Inside the Box Score
  • Walter earned her 10th win of the year with another strong pitching performance in the circle. The junior scattered three hits and walked two with two strikeouts.
  • Craig led off the fifth inning with single up the middle on the first pitch for her 100th career hit. She finished the game with two hits and a run scored.
  • Kratz recorded her first career multi-home run game and had four RBI.
  • McCurdy was 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
  • Megan Heard had two hits, stole two bases, and scored a run.
  • Edwards hit her first career home run and had four RBI.
Game Two
LVC (21-5) was on the unfortunate wrong end of a great pitcher's duel between Erin Sinatra and Kylie Russell. The Warriors (18-8) scored the lone run of the game in the third inning. Russell led the inning off with a single and then moved to second on a hit by pitch. She scored on an errant throw to first base on a sacrifice bunt. Sinatra got out of the inning with two strikeouts and a grounder to second.

Inside the Box Score
  • Sinatra was fantastic in the circle despite the loss. She allowed just the one unearned run on two hits in six innings. The junior struck out four Warriors.
  • Craig had two of the four hits in the game for the Dutchmen.
  • Kylie Balthaser had a fourth inning two-out single to center.
  • Heard singled up the middle in the seventh and stole second.
