GRANTHAM, Pa. – Veronica Venezia became just the second Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse student-athlete to record 400 career points with a goal and two assists in a 20-6 defeat at 11th-ranked Messiah University on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen (5-9, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) and Falcons (10-2, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) waited out a 1:10 lightning delay prior to the start of the game. Messiah scored the first five goals before Venezia tallied her milestone point with her 32nd goal of the year off an assist by
Sydney Zimmerman. The hosts added another five goals before
Erin Zieber found the back of the net with a little over eight minutes left in the second quarter off an assist from Venezia.
Messiah led 14-2 at the half and continued their scoring streak into the third quarter. Zimmerman scored her first goal of the game with 4:30 on the clock to make it 18-3. LVC outscored the Falcons in the fourth quarter as Zieber scored twice and Zimmerman added her second goal against the nationally-ranked Falcons.
