JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. – Julia Craig and
Erin Pattillo knocked in three runs each to power the Lebanon Valley softball team to a 9-6 victory over Johnson & Wales University in the second game of the day for the Dutchmen at the Auburndale Softball Complex.
Lindsey McCurdy hit her second home run of the year in a 7-3 defeat to Muskingum College in the first game of the day.
Game One vs. Muskingum
Muskingum (6-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth. McCurdy responded with a home run to left field in the bottom of the inning. The Dutchmen (5-2) cut the lead to 4-3 with a pair of runs in the sixth.
Kiersten White knocked in
Sam Burns with a pinch-hit single to left and three batters later McCurdy drove in
Lexi Smith on a grounder up the middle. Muskingum responded with three insurance runs in the seventh.
Inside the Box Score
- McCurdy homered in her second straight game and had two RBI. She also stole a base.
- White and Jessica Truitt each had a pinch-hit single.
- Burns had a double and stole a base.
Game Two vs. Johnson & Wales
The Dutchmen (6-2) bounced back from the tough defeat in the first game of the day with five runs in the top of the second inning against the Wildcats (5-3).
Alden Partyka plated the first run of the game with an infield single to second scoring Maddy Groneback. After Burns walked, Pattillo hit a two-RBI double down the leftfield line. Pattillo and Burns then scored on a Craig single to left.
The Wildcats scored a run in the bottom of the inning on two hits and two walks. LVC loaded the bases with one out in the third for Pattillo who knocked in White on a fielder's choice. JWU responded with a run in the bottom of the third to keep it a four-run game. The rest of the runs were scored in the fifth as the Dutchmen put up three and the Wildcats scored four. Burns knocked in White with a double to center. She then stole third and two batters later was knocked in by a Craig double to the gap in right center. Pattillo, who walked, also scored on the double.

Up Next
Lebanon Valley will have another off day on Friday and wrap up the Florida trip on Saturday. The Dutchmen will take on SUNY New Paltz at 9 a.m. at the DiamondPlex Complex in Winter Haven and then conclude play with 20th-ranked Babson College at 2 p.m.
