JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. – The Lebanon Valley softball team won a pair of games on Monday morning behind strong pitching performances at the Auburndale Softball Complex. LVC defeated Emmanuel College 5-2 in the opener and then outlasted Nebraska Wesleyan University 1-0.
Game One vs. Emmanuel
The Saints (0-1) got on the board first manufacturing a run in the first and a run in the second inning on two hits. Emmanuel held the lead until the fourth inning as
Alicia Gotts and Dawe Tianna were locked in a pitching duel. The Dutchmen (2-1) got on the board in the fourth as
Jessica Truitt led the inning off with a pinch-hit single and came around to score two batters later on a
Nicole Kratz single up the middle. LVC put runners on second and third with two out for
Alden Partyka who gave the Dutchmen the lead with a two-RBI single to right field.
The score remained the same until the sixth when
Erin Pattillo and
Megan Heard hit singles and moved into scoring position. Partyka once again came up with the big hit knocking a doubled down the right field line to score two.
Erin Sinatra relived Gotts in the circle during the fifth inning didn't allow a hit the rest of the way.
Inside the Box Score
- Partyka record the second multi-hit game of her career and knocked in a career-high four runs.
- Pattillo went 3-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a walk. She added two steals on the base paths.
- Lexi Smith and Sam Burns each at two hits at the top of the lineup. Burn stole two bases.
- Truitt had two hits off the bench and scored a run.
- Gotts pitched a gem to earn her first win of the year. She went 4.1 innings and allowed just three hits with three walks and a strikeout.
- Sinatra struck out five in 2.2 innings and didn't allow a hit.
- LVC had 13 hits and five stolen bases in the game.
Game Two vs. Nebraska Wesleyan
The Dutchmen (3-1) scored the lone run of the game in the fifth inning of a pitcher's duel between
Jordan Walter and Elise Warneke.
Maddy Gronback singled in the fifth and then was pinch ran for by Pattillo. Pattillo stole second and then scored on an
Anna Marie Hockman single to center field. That was all the run support Walter would need as she keep the Prairie Wolves (5-2) off the scoreboard for her seventh career shutout.
Inside the Box Score
- Walter threw her second gem of the season pitching a complete game shutout. She struck out two and walked just one while scattering six hits.
- Julia Craig, Gonback, and Hockman all had one hit each for the Dutchmen at the plate.
- Pattillo stole her third base of the season.
- Craig was busy at first base making 11 putouts.
- Megan Heard made four assists while Smith and Hockman had three assists each.
