Venezia and Zimmerman Lead Women’s Lacrosse Against Third-ranked TCNJ

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sydney Zimmerman assisted on all three of Veronica Venezia's goals to lead the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team in a hard-fought battle against third-ranked The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field. The visiting Lions won the game 19-4.
 
LVC (1-2) won the opening draw control and Erin Zieber gave the Dutchmen the early lead 51 seconds in. The Lions (2-0) scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter. Zimmerman and Venezia cut the deficit down to one to begin the second as Zimmerman found Venezia open in front of goal for her first goal of the season. The Lions scored before Venezia scored again on another assist from Zimmerman to make it 4-3 with 8:36 to go in the half. TCNJ ended the half with six straight goals to take a 10-3 lead. The streak continued into the second half as TCNJ scored five third period goals and four fourth period goals to take a 19-3 lead. Venezia and Zimmerman ended the run with 4:05 left as the duo teamed up for the third time in the game.

  • Venezia had three goals on six shots putting five shots on goal. The attacker now has 176 career goals.
  • Zimmerman recorded her second consecutive three-assist game. She now has 99 career points and leads the team with 10 points this season.
  • Zieber had a goal, two draw controls, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
  • Alyssa Wene led the team with three draw controls.
  • Julia Abendschoen made nine save in 35 minutes of action before Olivia Helms came in and made five saves.
