FREDERICK, Md. – Kylie Balthaser blasted two home runs and had six RBI to lead the Lebanon Valley softball team to a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth sweep of Hood College at the Hood Softball Field on Thursday afternoon. The Dutchmen won the first game 5-1 and then cruised to a 13-0 five-inning victory in the nightcap.
Game One
LVC (13-4, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) did most of the damage in the first inning.
Sam Burns led off the game with a walk and was sacrificed over to second.
Julia Craig singled to knock in Burns with the first run of the game.
Lindsey McCurdy walked to put two runners on and then Balthaser crushed a three-run homer over the center field fence to make it 4-0. The Dutchmen added an insurance run in the fifth as Balthaser knocked in McCurdy on a single to center. Hood (7-12, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) was able to plate a run in the bottom of the seventh.

- Balthaser had a huge game with three hits and four RBI. She hit her first home run of the year.
- Craig had two hits with an RBI and run scored.
- McCurdy hit a double and scored two runs.

Game Two
The Dutchmen (14-4, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored multiple runs in all five innings to defeat the Blazers (7-13, 0-4 MAC Commonwealth) 13-0 in a run-ruled victory.
Lexi Smith got the scoring started in the first with a triple to center to score Burns. Craig then knocked in Smith with a batted ball to second base.
Anna Marie Hockman extended the lead to 4-0 in the second with a two-run home run to center. The Dutchmen doubled the lead in the third with four runs on two hits. Balthaser led the inning off with a walk and was knocked in three batters later on a
Megan Heard single to left. After a Hockman walk, Burns knocked in
Alden Partyka and Heard with a bases-loaded single to center. Hockman scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.
In the fourth inning, McCurdy reached first on a fielding error and then scored on Balthaser's second home run of the day. LVC loaded the bases to begin the fifth on a
Samantha Weaver walk and back-to-back singles by
Brooke Edwards and
Nikki Sellers.
Hayley Krill knocked in Weaver with a sacrifice fly to left.
Maddy Gronback hit a single to reload the bases before
Kiersten White knocked in a run with a walk.
Mackenzie Willey knocked in the final run of the game with a single to left.

- Erin Sinatra struck out seven and scattered four hits to earn her fifth win of the year.
- The Dutchmen scored 14 runs on 13 hits and four walks.
