ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team outscored visiting Drew University 7-2 in the first quarter and then held off a late rally to defeat the Rangers 17-15 on Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field.
 
The Dutchmen (3-5) scored three times in the first three minutes as 
Veronica Venezia scored twice and 
Emily Beard converted a free position attempt. The Rangers (2-4) cut the lead to 3-1 before Venezia completed her hat trick with another unassisted goal. Drew scored a woman-down goal to make it a 4-2 game with 6:46 left in the quarter. LVC closed out the quarter strong as 
Alyssa Wene, 
Sydney Zimmerman, and Venezia scored to make it 7-2. The Rangers scored the first two goals of the second quarter before Zimmerman and Venezia answered with back-to-back goals. The Rangers cut the deficit to 9-5 with just under five minutes to go. Just like they did in the first quarter, the Dutchmen ended on a run with Venezia, 
Molly Whisler, and 
Maria Brandt finding the back of the net to give LVC a 12-5 halftime advantage.
 
Drew scored the first goal of the second half and then Zimmerman completed her hat trick with just under 11 minutes on the clock. The Rangers scored the next goal of the game with 6:21 to go but Venezia scored back-to-back goals to make it 15-7 in favor of LVC. Drew closed out the third quarter with three goals and then scored the first four goals of the fourth to cut the lead to one with 8:16 left. Zimmerman gave the Dutchmen some breathing room with a goal off a nice pass from Venezia with just over six minutes to play. Whisler added an insurance goal a little over a minute later. The Rangers were able to score with 1:13 left to set the final.
 
Inside the Box Score
	- Venezia equaled her career-high with eight goals on 10 shots. She also had three assists and seven draw controls.
 
	- Zimmerman scored four goals and dished out two assists for six points.
 
	- Whisler had three points on two goals and an assist.
 
	- Beard had a goal and an assist while Wene scored a goal and had seven draw controls.
 
	- Anna Lougee caused two turnovers and Erin Zieber won five draw controls.
 
	- Julia Abendschoen made 12 saves in goal and stopped eight of 12 free position shots.
 
	- The Dutchmen won a season-high 20 draw controls.

The Dutchmen will open conference play next Wednesday with their Armed Forces Dedication Game against Widener University at 7 p.m. on Arnold Field.
