ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team fought valiantly against defending national champion and top-ranked Middlebury College on Monday afternoon at Arnold Field. The visiting Panthers defeated the Dutchmen by a score of 22-4.
Middlebury (6-0) scored the first eight goals of the game with three of the first four coming on free position shots. The Dutchmen (2-5) got on the board with 5:33 left in the quarter as
Emily Beard sent a pass in front of the goal to
Veronica Venezia who quickly put the ball into the back of the net. The Panthers scored the final two goals of the quarter and scored five in the second quarter to take a 15-1 lead into halftime. Middlebury scored the first goal of the third quarter before Venezia struck with her second goal of the day off a beautiful pass from
Sydney Zimmerman. The Panthers scored the next five goals to take a 21-2 lead.
Alyssa Wene stopped the run with a woman-up goal on a free position shot with 11:06 on the clock in the fourth. Zimmerman then scored off a great pass from
Bethany Cohee to make it 21-4. Middlebury added a goal with 1:21 left to set the final score.

- Venezia scored two goals on three shots.
- Zimmerman had two points on a goal and an assist.
- Erin Ziebler won four draw controls.
- Riley Finnegan picked up a team-high two ground balls.
- Julia Abenschoen made 10 saves in goal including two saves on free position shots.
- The Dutchmen played their second consecutive top three team on Arnold Field. LVC's last home game was against third-ranked TCNJ.
