ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team outscored host Elizabethtown 8-1 in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a 23-14 victory on Wednesday afternoon in Elizabethtown.
Sydney Zimmerman and
Emily Beard gave LVC (2-4) the early lead with goals in the first four minutes. The Blue Jays (3-4) tied the game up with a pair of goals before
Veronica Venezia scored her first goal of the game. Elizabethtown scored to tie the game back up and then Zimmerman scored a woman-down goal with 48 seconds left in the quarter. 21 seconds later Venezia added another woman-down goal to give LVC a 5-3 lead. The Blue Jays were able to score before the end of the quarter to cut the advantage to 5-4. Venezia began the scoring in the second quarter before the Blue Jays tied the game up at six with two goals. Venezia gave LVC back the lead and then
Anna Lougee scored an unassisted goal for a two-goal advantage. Venezia and
Molly Whisler added goals to match a pair of goals from Elizabethtown to go into the half with LVC leading 10-8.
The Blue Jays came out of the break strong and took their first lead of the game with three goals in the first two minutes. LVC responded with a goal by
Alyssa Wene. Elizabethtown scored before Zimmerman, Whisler,
Maria Brandt, and Lougee rattled off four straight goals to give the Dutchmen a 15-12 lead. The Blue Jays were able to cut it to two goals going into the fourth quarter. LVC dominated the fourth as Zimmerman scored four goals and Venezia added three. Wene rounded out the scoring with a goal in the final 30 seconds. Elizabethtown's lone goal of the quarter came on a woman-up opportunity.

- The 23 goals are the second most in program history and most since scoring 23 twice last season against Eastern and Alvernia.
- Venezia had a career high 13 points on eight goals and five assists. Her point and goal totals were one off the program record. Venezia also won seven draw controls.
- Zimmerman also had a career day with nine points on seven goals and two assists.
- Whisler had five points on two goals and three assists.
- Wene scored two goals and had an assist while Lougee scored twice.
- Brandt and Beard each had a goal and an assist.
- Hana Neff recorded a team-high seven ground balls and had an assist.
- LVC had a 36-24 shot advantage and put 32 shots on goal.
- The Dutchmen won a season-high 18 draw controls.

LVC will be off until Monday when they host the nation's top ranked team in Middlebury College at 4 p.m. on Arnold Field.
