LYNCHBURG, Va. – Alyssa Wene and
Veronica Venezia record four points on two goals and two assists each to lead the Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at University of Lynchburg. The host Hornets got off to a strong start to win the game 18-14.
Lynchburg jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first quarter scoring two woman-up goals in the first 15 minutes of action.
Anna Lougee scored LVC's first goal of the game at 8:45 off an assist by Wene. Venezia scored on a free position shot with 44 seconds to go in the quarter. The hornets scored the first goal of the second quarter before LVC fired right back with a woman-up goal by
Molly Whisler off an assist by
Erin Zieber and then an unassisted goal by Wene. The Hornets outscored the Dutchmen 4-2 the rest of the half with Wene and Zieber finding the back of the net for LVC. Wene scored on a free position while Zieber's goal was unassisted with 39 seconds to go in the half.
LVC outscored the Hornets 4-3 in both the third and fourth quarters. Maria Bradt scored the team's first goal of the half off an assist by Venezia. Brandt added a second goal at 3:49 off an assist by Wene and the Ziebler score a little over 20 seconds later to make it 14-9. Both teams scored in the final two minutes with Whisler scoring her second goal of the game for the Dutchmen. The fourth quarter began with the second goal of the game by Lougee on a free position. After a Lynchburg goal,
Sydney Zimmerman scored with 8:30 left on the clock. The Hornets and Dutchmen traded goals the rest of the way with Venezia and Zimmerman scoring for LVC.

- Wene took five shots and scored two goals with two assists. She also led the team with five draw controls.
- Zieber had two goals and one assist with three draw controls and two ground balls.
- Four different Dutchmen scored a pair of goals. They were Lougee, Whisler, Brandt, and Zimmerman.
- Emily Beard, Lougee, and Hana Neff caused two turnovers each.
- Julia Abendschoen made 10 saves and led the team with four ground balls.

The Dutchmen will be back in action on Wednesday with a short trip to Elizabethtown College for a 4 p.m. start.
