Women’s Basketball Equals Three-Point Record Against York

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team knocked down a program record 11 three-pointers in a tough 65-62 defeat to York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at Sorrentino Gymnasium.

The Dutchmen (11-10, 7-5 MAC Commonwealth) also knocked down 11 three-pointers earlier this season against Penn State Schuylkill breaking the previous record of 10 that stood for eight years. LVC and York played an incredibly tight game with seven ties and eight lead changes. Neither team led by more than seven during the 40 minutes of action that came down to the final seconds. The Spartans got off to a fast start taking an 8-3 lead. Three-pointers by Kate Fitzpatrick and Kailey Eckhart cut the deficit down to one at 10-9 with 3:23 left. York finished the quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 16-11 lead. LVC started the second quarter with scores by Jordan Zimmerman sandwiching a three by Riley Hevelow to give the Dutchmen their first lead. Zimmerman knocked down back-to-back triples before Daelyn Stabler scored on a jumper to give LVC a 28-21 lead. The Spartans were able to get the lead down to 31-26 at the half.

York tied the game up at 33 three minutes into the third quarter. LVC then outscored the Spartans 11-9 the rest of the way to take a 4442 lead into the fourth. Hevelow knocked down the only three for the Dutchmen in the quarter with a little over a minute left. The teams battled back and forth in the fourth quarter trading leads until York used an 8-0 run late in the quarter to take a 60-53 lead with 22 seconds left. Eckhart hit a pair of threes and Zimmerman knocked down a three while York went 3-4 at the line to make it a one-point game with three seconds left. The Spartans made both free throws with 1.3 seconds on the clock and a three-quarter court heave from the Dutchmen at the end was off the mark.
