Redding Scores Career-High 25 Points Against York

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Antonio Redding finished with a game-high 25 points to lead the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team in a tough 82-72 defeat to visiting York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon inside Sorrentino Gymnasium.
 
York raced out to a 15-2 lead in the first six minutes of play. Collin Jones hit a three and then a jumper before Ryan Harder knocked down a trey to bring the Dutchmen within five. Jevon Griffin made it a two-point game with 10:42 left in the half with a three-pointer off an assist by Harder. The Spartans went on a run to go up by six before Redding hit a three and then Jones scored on a pair of jumpers to give LVC their first lead of the day at 23-22. The game was tied at 26 before Redding knocked down a jumper and then Payton Lewis hit a three to give the Dutchmen their largest lead of the half. York finished the final 3:30 of the half on a 12-4 run knocking down four threes to take a 38-35 halftime lead.

The Spartans continued the run into the second half scoring the first four points. They were able to build the lead up to 12 at 52-40 with 16 minutes left. LVC responded with seven straight points from Kyle Tang and Redding to bring it back to a five-point game. York led by 10 halfway through the half using the long ball and free throw shooting to keep stop any Dutchmen comeback effort. The Dutchmen fought hard to cut the deficit in the final 10 minutes of action but were only able to get as close as six with five minutes left.

  • Redding was the game's leading scoring with 25 points knocking down four threes and going 5-6 at the line. He added seven rebounds and three assists.
  • Jones finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, and a block. He now has scored at least 20 points 10 times this season.
  • Tang had eight points and three assists while Griffin had six points.
  • The Dutchmen received 39 points off the bench while scoring 22 points in the paint and knocking down 10 threes.

LVC will remain in Sorrentino Gymnasium this Wednesday when they will host Widener University at 6 p.m. in another important conference battle.
