SCRANTON, Pa. – Lebanon Valley women's lacrosse midfielder Emily Beard scored the first goal of the season and led the Dutchmen with six shots in a 14-2 defeat at host University of Scranton on Saturday afternoon.
 
The junior scored the first goal of the game with 13:07 on the clock in the first quarter off an assist by Alyssa Wene. The Royals (1-1) responded by scoring the next five goals to take a 5-1 advantage into the second quarter. Maria Brandt scored her first career goal to begin the second quarter. Scranton scored four times in the quarter to take a 9-2 lead into the half. The Royals were able to keep the Dutchmen off the scoreboard in the second half and scored three times in the third and twice in the fourth to set the final score.

• Beard took six shots and put five on goal while adding two ground balls and two draw controls. She scored the 44th goal of her career.
• Brandt scored on the only shot of the game she took and had two draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
• Wene recorded the first assist of her career. She took three shots and had a ground ball and draw control.
• Julia Abendschoen made 10 saves in goal and led the team with six ground balls.
• Hana Neff caused two turnovers.
• The Dutchmen and Royals split draw controls evenly with both teams winning 10.
