ANNVILLE, Pa. – Just a few weeks out from spring break, we had a short week on our hands here at LVC Esports. We saw the 2nd week of NECC action along with the continuation of NACE Varsity Plus and Premier matches.
Rocket League— The Rocket League team faced two opponents this week in Miami Dade College (NACE) and University of Mount Union (NECC). The team would continue to show their prowess as a top team within their NACE and NECC division with a 3-0 victory in both series this week to continue the great start to the regular season. They will now take on Eastern (Appalachian Conference), Edinboro University (NECC), and St. Clair (NACE) for this weeks' set of matches. They will also be preparing to travel to Virginia Beach for the Collision on the Coast LAN event, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University this Saturday.
Valorant— Valorant faced just one matchup in their attempt to bounce back from a tough week three with Rutgers University on the schedule. This would not end their way though with a 13-8 loss on Pearl and a 13-6 loss on Haven to follow. Rutgers would walk away with the 2-0 victory as the early struggles for the newly promoted champions team in LVC continues. They will take on a similarly struggling University of Kentucky on Monday night while meeting Eastern in this week's Appalachian Conference match on Tuesday as they look to hold their first place spot within the conference.
Rainbow Six— Faced with just one match this week, Rainbow Six showed out by putting themselves to 2-0 in the NECC Challengers East Division with a solid 2-0 victory over Northern Virginia Community College. It would start on Kafe with Michael "Plexios" Schinder posting a 18/10 K/D in the 8-6 win. This would carry over to Oregon with Plexios sporting a 13/6 performance paired with a 12/4 showing from David "MrDavisTV" Palmer to take the second map 7-4 and the series 2-0. They will face their rivals in Arcadia for their NECC matchup on Tuesday along with meeting Full Sail University in NACE play on Thursday. This will lead up to the LAN event they will travel to Kutztown University to play in on Saturday. Other teams making this trip will be Drexel University, West Virginia Wesleyan College, University of Cincinnati, and Robert Morris University. The Kutztown University squad will also look to defend their home turf in the event.
Super Smash— After a tough loss against Messiah last week, Smash was able to bounce back with a dominant 2-0 over Immaculata University. This included huge performances from Andrew "Manta" Sylso in the first set and John "Woodchuckman" Wood in the second. They will take on Stony Brook in week five.
Overwatch— Overwatch had one match scheduled this week once but unfortunately, Toronto Metropolitan forfeited the series before it had begun so the team will look forward to this week against Drexel University.
Call of Duty— Call of Duty originally had two CCL matches scheduled for Monday but both ended up being rescheduled. This would lead into Wednesday with the Dutchmen taking on Edinboro University. This would not be much of a contest as LVC would face little resistance in the series, closing out a hot 3-0 victory with a 250-36 hardpoint, a 6-3 SND, and a 3-1 control. They would then face one of the reschedules from earlier in the week in Penn State on Sunday. The Dutchmen started off hot in this match with a big performance from Andrew "Tenacious" Kierce in map 1 to go up 1-0 in the series. After that, it would be all Penn State as they would take the next three maps and the series 3-1. LVC moves to 0-1 in CCL Northeast Division One. The Call of Duty team will have a long week this week with four total matches. This includes Ohio University and Fisher University on Monday, Rutgers University on Tuesday, which was rescheduled from last week, and Keiser University Pembroke Pines on Wednesday.
