ANNVILLE, Pa. – Daelyn Stabler did everything she could to keep her senior season going recording a double-double and filling the stat sheet in a tough 61-52 defeat to visiting Widener University in the first game of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Championship Tournament on Monday evening in Sorrentino Gymnasium.
The fourth-seeded Dutchmen got off to a slow start as the fifth-seeded Pride took a 7-2 lead over the first five minutes of the game. Widener grew the lead to 13-6 before
Kate Fitzpatrick knocked down a three-pointer with 1:35 on the clock. The Pride scored on a jumper with 20 seconds left and
Cristina Fernandez closed out the quarter with a buzzer-beater to make it 15-11 after the first 10 minutes. Stabler began the scoring in the second quarter with a jumper to cut the lead to two. The teams traded scores until Widener ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 27-20 lead.
Stabler scored four of LVC's first six points of the second half with
Riley Hevelow adding a jumper and the Dutchmen were within one at 27-26 three minutes into the third quarter. The Pride responded with back-to-back threes to bring the lead back up to seven. Widener was able to build the lead to 44-34 before
Kailey Eckhart knocked down a free throw to make it a nine-point game heading into the fourth quarter. The Dutchmen came out strong to begin the fourth after the Pride began the quarter with a bucket. Fitzpatrick hit two free throws, Fernandez knocked down a jumper, and then Stabler found Fitzpatrick underneath for a layup to bring LVC within five. Widener responded with a 6-0 run to make it 61-52 with 5:36 remaining. LVC fought right back with buckets by Fernandez and
Jordan Zimmerman to make it 52-47 with 2:23 left. That was as close as the Dutchmen would get as the Pride hit seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to secure the victory.

- Stabler scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game to end her career and recorded her third double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She added four steals, two assists, and a block.
- Fitzpatrick hit a trio of three-pointers and finished with 13 points and two steals.
- Fernandez had eight points and eight rebounds with three assists.
- Zimmerman scored seven points while Eckhart had five points and six rebounds.
- Samya Santiague blocked two shots while Allison Bimmer pulled down five rebounds.
- The Dutchmen finished with a 13-13 overall record and played in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament for the second consecutive season.
