FREDERICK, Md. – Payton Lewis had 16 points to lead a well-rounded scoring effort as the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team had four in double figures in a hard-fought 90-75 defeat at Hood College on Wednesday evening in Frederick, Maryland.
LVC (6-14, 4-7 MAC Commonwealth) got off to a strong start as Lewis sent a beautiful pass towards the basket for
Collin Jones to slam down.
Luis Garcia hit a three and then Lewis knocked down his first three of the night to give the Dutchmen a 7-0 lead and force the Blazers (13-8, 7-5 MAC Commonwealth) to call a timeout. The Blazers responded with a 13-5 run to take their first lead of the game at 13-12 with 15 minutes on the clock. Hood was able to keep the run going and built a 12-point lead at 29-17 with 9:17 to go. The Dutchmen fought back and scored the next six points. Hood was able to rebuild the lead up to 13 with 3:36 left in the half before the Dutchmen ended the half on a huge run.
Antonio Redding and
Ryan Harder knocked down five threes including a Redding three right before the buzzer to cut the lead all the way down to one at 44-43.
The Dutchmen were able to tie the game on a Lewis three on the fourth possession of the second half. The Blazers knocked down threes on their next two trips down the floor to go up by six. LVC came right back and an
Evan Smith fastbreak three tied things up at 52 with just under 15 remaining. Hood countered with a 10-2 run to go up by eight. Jones hit a couple layups to cut the deficit to four with a little over 10 minutes on the clock. Hood was able to build the lead back up to 10 with seven to go before Jones scored in the paint and Harder knocked down another three to make it a five-point game. The Blazers scored the next 10 points to take a 87-72 lead with just under two minutes to play.

- Lewis had a huge game with 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds. He was one of three Dutchmen to knock down three three-pointers in the game.
- Harder was 3-5 from deep and scored 15 points with six rebounds and three assists.
- Jones finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. The senior scored nine of his point in the final 20 minutes.
- Garcia was the fourth Dutchman in. double figures with 12 points.
- Redding knocked down three threes for nine points and added three assists.
- LVC knocked down a season-high 13 threes.
