Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Harder Leads Four Dutchmen in Double Figures at Drew

MADISON, N.J. – Ryan Harder had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead four Lebanon Valley men's basketball scorers in double figures on Saturday afternoon in the final non-conference game of the year. The Dutchmen went on the road and battled undefeated Drew University to a 94-80 defeat at Baldwin Gymnasium in Madison, New Jersey.

The Rangers (11-0) began the game with a three before Luis Garcia found Evin Timochenko underneath the basket for a bucket. Drew knocked down a transition three and LVC countered with a Garcia trey and then another bucket in the pain by Timochenko to take their first lead at 7-6 three minutes in. The teams went back and forth trading scores before LVC used a 4-0 run behind baskets by Braden Bohannon and Timochenko to take a 15-10 lead. Drew countered with a 9-2 run to retake the lead at 19-17 with 8:15 on the clock. Harder ended the run with a jumper to tie the game up. The Rangers knocked down a couple of free throws and a pair of three-pointers to go up 27-21. Harder hit a pair of free throws, Garcia scored on a driving layup, and then Harder tied the game back up at 27 with a bucket. After the Rangers made one of two free throws, Bohannon knocked down a big three to give LVC a 30-28 lead with 3:28 left in the half. Drew responded with an 8-0 run fueled by two threes to go up by six. LVC closed the half on a 7-4 run to cut the lead to 40-37 heading into the half.

The Dutchmen fought hard to chip into the lead more during the second half, but every time LVC scored a big bucket, the Rangers were able to respond with a bucket at the other end. Drew began the scoring in the second half. Harder hit a jumper in the paint and Timochenko scored on back-to-back layups to make it 45-43. The teams traded made free throws before Drew hit a three to go up by five. The lead increased to seven before Evan Smith hit a big three in the corner to make it 52-48 with 14:34 left. The Dutchmen did a great job getting the Rangers into foul trouble during the first eight minutes of the half as they reached the double bonus early in the period. The Rangers were able to trade baskets and increased their lead to 67-55 following a three-pointer with 9:46 remaining. Timochenko and Bohannon scored LVC's next six points before Jevon Griffin hit a three from the top of the key with 6:33 left to make it a 13-point game at 78-65. Karson Pavlik cut it to 10 with a three and Garcia brought it back to single digits on a great three-point play where he scored on a fastbreak layup while getting fouled and then sunk the shot at the line. The lead was still nine when Smith hit another three to cut it to six at 82-76 with just over four minutes left. The Rangers responded with a three and that was as close as the Dutchmen would get the rest of the way as Drew closed the game on a 12-4 run.
